Indigenous Women Fight for Our Future: Rise for Land, Rights, and Self-Determination!
Join the online global campaign “Indigenous Women Fight for Our Future” and lets recognize and celebrate the bravery of Indigenous Women in their struggle for land, rights, and self-determination.
This March 8 International Women’s Day, let’s do the “Brave Indigenous Women salute” honoring all Indigenous Women around the world who persist amid adversities, rise above the violence and forward the fight for self-determined future.
This year, we raise awareness about the plight of Indigenous Women, especially our brave Indigenous Women human rights defenders at our frontlines.
Indigenous Women are the protectors of indigenous knowledge and traditions, nurturer of communities and defenders of the environment against plunder, exploitation, and widespread devastation.
They brave everyday life of multiple layers of violence and discrimination based on gender, indigeneity, ethnicity, race, and class. More often than not, this has been weaponized to keep them oppressed and marginalized.
But amid the alarming situation of Indigenous Women and their communities, they continue to lead the struggle against criminalization, military and paramilitary attacks backed by oppressive States and foreign corporations trying to take away their land, life and territories.
This global campaign is co-organized by the Int’l Indigenous Peoples Movement for Self Determination & Liberation , Asia Young Indigenous Peoples Network (AYIPN), ILPS Commission 10 (International League of People’s Struggles), Merdeka West Papua Support Network.
