The Asia Young Indigenous Peoples Network (AYIPN) condemns in the strongest terms the killing of 19 youth protesters and more than hundreds injured in Nepal. No government has the right to silence the youth with bullets for demanding justice and accountability. The police and authorities must be held accountable for this brutal attack on democratic rights.
This outrage in Nepal resonates across Asia — with youth in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Indigenous communities rising against corruption, exploitation, and repression. Indigenous youth know too well how corruption fuels land grabbing, militarization, and the denial of our rights.
We stand with the youth of Nepal and with all peoples of Asia in demanding justice, accountability, and real change. The fight against corruption is a fight for our future — and Indigenous youth will continue to rise in solidarity until it is won.
