Building The Next Generation of Environment Defenders Through Arts.

The Asia Young Indigenous Peoples Network (AYIPN) in partnership with local cultural groups in Cordillera, Philippines conducted series of educational awareness among the indigenous youth and children on the environmental issues that surrounds them.

Local activities such as training on indigenous rights to land, climate change and indigenous management and protection were discussed among indigenous youth and children. Artistic forms such as soil painting, mural making, indigenous instrument workshop was among the activities that the youth participated.

Activities such as this helped in awareness raising as well as bringing out the creative forms of advocacy among the youth. It gathered perspective and perceived actions that the indigenous youth would want for their future through different art interventions. Murals were presented during the Earth Day celebration.
