The Asia Young Indigenous Peoples Network (AYIPN) proudly participated in the 6th Indigenous Knowledge and Peoples of Asia (IKPA) Conference, organized by the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP), held on August 29–September 2, 2026, in Sabah, Malaysia.
This year’s gathering highlighted the important role of Indigenous youth in defending our territories and protecting our roots.
AYIPN youth actively contributed as speakers, panelists, and facilitators, sharing the history and journey of AYIPN, as well as the joint mechanism between AYIPN and AIYP in strengthening Indigenous youth participation and leadership in the regional movement.
The conference was also a meaningful space to connect with fellow Indigenous youth across Asia, exchange experiences, and learn from the wisdom of Indigenous elders through engaging panels, workshops and community visit.
AYIPN also extends its congratulations to all the Indigenous Youth Agents of Change Award 2026 awardees.
The challenge for the Indigenous youth is clear: we must take an active role in defending our ancestral lands and advancing self-determination—for when we defend our territories, we also defend our culture and identity. Together we are one in our call : Indigenous Lands in Indigenous Hands!
