Here are the reflections from the South Asia and Mekong Indigenous Youth Leaders and Guardianship Gathering last August 27-28, 2026.
Across borders and communities, young leaders stand in solidarity for a shared commitment to protect their ancestral lands, culture, and identity.
Shadishkanta from Youth’s Forum for Protection of Human Rights, commits to continue upholding and protecting Indigenous Rights and encourages the Indigenous youth from his community to respect and protect their culture and rights. Mee Lay from Karen Environmental and Social Action Network (KESAN), as an Indigenous youth, is proud of their land, because without their land, there are no Indigenous Peoples.
These reflections challenges all the Indigenous youth to unite in protecting their ancestral lands, Indigenous rights, culture & identity.
