As AYIPN joined the 2nd AIYP General Assembly and the 3rd Asia Indigenous Youth Conference in Chiang Mai, young Indigenous leaders came together to share their realities, strengthen solidarity, and learn from one another.
To bring these voices forward, let’s hear directly from the learnings of the participants—starting with the Chairperson of AYIPN, Gunjal Ikir Munda.
“We reflected on the necessity of building the narrative of Indigeneity through dialogue and shared responsibility. We were reminded that true knowledge is carried in the wisdom of our elders, and it is through meaningful interaction with them that we strengthen our epistemology. The conference also affirmed the vital role of Indigenous youth – not only as advocates but as caretakers who feed, sustain, and support our communities. Together, these lessons inspire us to honour our roots while embracing our collective responsibility to shape a just and resilient future.”
