Reflection from 2nd AIYP General Assembly and the 3rd Asia Indigenous Peoples Youth Conference in Chiang Mai

To add more to the sharing of participants from the 2nd AIYP General Assembly and the 3rd Asia Indigenous Peoples Youth Conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand, let us hear from Shadishkanta Takhenchangba from Youth’s Forum for Protection of

Human Rights – Northeast India.

“From the 3rd Asia Indigenous Youth Conference, I learned that Indigenous youth across Asia face common challenges such as lack of funding, limited resources, and weak global representation. The refresher session on key UN mechanisms strengthened my understanding of Indigenous rights advocacy.

I also realized the vital role of Indigenous youth in safeguarding culture and traditional knowledge through language revitalization, intergenerational learning, and community initiatives.”
